The car buying process isn't complicated by nature. It's just practiced.
The people on the other side of the desk run this process every single day. You run it every few years — maybe eight or ten times in your entire life. Same process, wildly different reps. That's the whole imbalance, and it has nothing to do with anyone being dishonest.
Who's actually across the desk
The best store managers and F&I managers were salespeople first. They learned the process from the ground up, and they understand what the person on the floor is dealing with because they used to be that person.
The ones who skipped that role are usually disconnected — from the process, and from the people they're supposed to be leading. And that disconnect carries over. It reaches the sales staff, and it reaches you, making the buyer's experience a little more challenging than it needed to be.
The salesperson role gets treated as a starting point. It's more than that. Plenty of salespeople are more than capable of managing and choose to stay on the floor because that's where they're good.
Like any industry, there are good people and standup people doing this work. There are also bad players, and they're the reason the whole business carries the reputation it does.
Why this exists
An educated buyer is a smart buyer. That's the entire premise.
This site is built for the consumer who wants transparency and information — enough of both to make a decision they understand instead of one they were walked into. Not tricks. Not scripts to beat someone with. Just the actual process, explained by someone who ran it from the sales floor through F&I and management for 25+ years.
When you know what's happening and why, the conversation changes. You stop reacting and start deciding.
